Dancehall-reggae firebrand Francheno is generating a huge buzz in Central and South America with his latest single, the controversial anti-cop anthem, Babylon Leave I Alone.
The song is currently sitting in the number-six spot of the Black Music Reggae charts, which is compiled weekly on MIX 94.3 FM in Costa Rica, and number five on the WRIP reggae charts, compiled weekly in the capital city Tegucigalpa, in Honduras.
"The Babylon Leave I Alone single is doing well in those countries, I think because they identify with the song because of the high level of police brutality in those states. Jamaica has similar problems with a corrupt police force which does not hesitate to use deadly force against its citizens. Right now, it's a favourite of many of my fans worldwide. I'm very thankful to Jah and my fans for this," Francheno said.
He recently released a video which has been in rotation on HYPE, RE, CVM and MD TV. He recently appeared on CVM at Sunrise, FIWI Choice Top 10 and HYPE TV as he amps up promotion on the single.
Francheno is also reaping success with another single, Life Set A Way, a conscious reggae song that asks tough philosophical questions of the world leaders.
"The success ofLife Set A Way has been awesome, because this life is a challenge for many people and this song gives them a voice. I'm happy to see that this song is doing so well in Bermuda and Antigua, I am getting calls for dubs, but no shows as yet," he said.
He is booked to perform in Guyana and on the Portland Curry Fest in June. "The sales have been going well on reggae iTunes in Central America, the people love the cultural vibe," he said.
