Dancehall Artiste 'Boom Steppa' Steps Out With New Management & EP

PRISM MARKETING CONSULTANTS || AUGUST 22, 2015 || It is very easy for a burgeoning star to get overshadowed amid the abundance of talent in the highly competitive industry of Reggae and Dancehall, however recording artiste Fabian Wilson more popularly known, as Boom Steppa has no intent of falling prey to that phenomenon.

Given the name ‘Steppa’ by a friend because of the rhythmic manner in which he walked, he later annexed ‘Boom’ to compliment the explosive compositions he had planned for the mainstream music market. Standing a commanding 6ft 2” the lanky singer not only towers over the average person but also his lyrical contenders with sharp, meticulously written songs complimented by catchy melodies and pristine clarity.

Hailing from the enclaves of Central Village, St. Catherine, Steppa realized he had an inkling for music at an early age and soon thereafter began aligning his focus in that direction. With the daily evolution of his lyrical skillset he steadily adapted the mindset of a recording artiste and continued honing his craft despite being in school. A then student of the Jonathan Grant High before transferring to Tivoli Gardens High School, Steppa often times took to the streets in search of recording studios in his plight to kindle a recording career. His chance came after a friend introduced him to the Black Roots studio operated by the late veteran rock steady icon Sugar Minnott where he recorded his very first single entitled “Ghetto Life”.

Despite his infancy the young talent continued to expand his skillset and soon begun writing for several top flight acts. Unfortunately amid the success he was forced to take a hiatus from the business after getting shot and hospitalized for several weeks. Steppa soon recovered and realized that his own career was more important than playing a supporting role in others.

In 2010 Boom Steppa made the bold move to start his own record label NEXXSTEP NETWORK, releasing his first and most successful record titled ‘Naaw Stay Poor’; The video went on to peak at No.1 on several location charts (RETV, HITLIST) including the U.S based television network GBEtv. Following up with another successful single ‘MONEY’, Steppa managed to negotiate a deal with Philipp Schmitz of Philtunes Music, which led to a six weeks promotional tour of Germany in the spring of 2011. The tour made stops in Cologne, Monchengladbach, Bochum and Dortmund. On his return to Jamaica he wrote and produced the buzz-worthy collaboration “NEVER STOP PRAY” introducing Reggae Singer CHRONIXX to the world.

No stranger to the stage Steppa has performed at a number of top tier events including: Fully Loaded, Bling Dawg Summer Jam and Galiday Bounce among several others.

Joining forces with Paul Gordon of Kemistry Records in 2013 the two produced several projects including the remix of ‘Never Stop Pray’ (My Mother) featuring Chronixx, Delly Ranx and himself. Steppa’s other production credits include the ‘Bad Artist’ and 2014 ‘Steam Clock’ rhythm compilations.

Now under the guidance of Magnolia Inc., his new management team the singjay is set to release his first official EP titled ‘MY WAY’ on the Kemistry Records imprint. The 9-track compilation will be available on iTunes and other digital platforms on Friday, August 21. Following the release a full roster of activities is planned including a U.S promotional tour, a local EP release party before jetting off for a pair of tours in Australia and New Zealand.

"The future is unpredictable you know but at the same time I'm gonna always work the hardest I can because I wanna take my music to an international level and the ground work is necessary so this is just me doing my thing "MY WAY", I'm just doing Boom Steppa" – he added.

Steppa believes he’s ready for the mainstream and will be going full throttle with his campaign.
