Chaka and Pliers

"Jamaicas Most successful Duo"

Chaka and Pliers are the most successful duo in the dancehall and reggae music industry today.

The rougher voice Chaka Demus, whose real name is John Taylor was born on August 1963 in Kingston Jamaica.

The smooth tone voice singer Pliers, was born on April 4, 1963 in a small town call Rockhall Hills in Jamaica.

Before they started this historical combination, Chaka was a solo artiste. He had hits such as "One Scotch" a collaboration with Admiral Bailey and "Everybody Loves Chaka". These tracks was recorded for King Jammy's Record label.

Pliers, he too was a solo artiste. With hits such as Bam Bam and Snake in the Grass also recorded with King Jammy's Record label.

The Duo came together after solo performance at a stage show in 1990. It was Demus who called Pliers to join him on stage during his set. Pliers had already done his set and from that date, they started working and performing as Chaka Demus and Pliers.

In 1993-1995 they had the most successful time of their career. They were able to notched up five (5) top singles in Europe.

* "Twist and Shout" produce by Jammys went to #1 on the Uk single charts.

* "Murder She Wrote" produced by Sly and Robbie did not reach the #1 spot, but it is consider to be their biggest hit.

Other chart toppers are "Tease Me", "She Don't Let Nobody", "I Wanna Be Your Man" and "Gal Wine".

In 2007 Chaka and Pliers reunited to record and release "Need Your Lovin" for explorer records. This did very well on the local and international scene.

Their Latest work is "So Proud" an album released in 2008.
