Dancehall Religion and ReggaeDancehall Religion and Reggae..Most religions are against dancehall-reggae music, they consider it as being crude or slack because of its sexual tones and sometimes violent gestures.
Some churches think that this kind of music cause the violence that is now gripping the island of Jamaica and the preachers preach about this in almost every sermon. I’m not saying that this music does not play a part in this especially with the young people. Most of the younger gospel singers are now sounding the same way as the artists in the street with the same microphone touting and they are even doing the same dance move that party people are doing at the club and dance. One of their great response is that they are dancing for the lord. Most of the artist that are now gospel singers were once in this genre of music. Papa San, Chevelle Franklin and also Lt Stichie are great examples. Most religion don’t have a problem with them but I do know that some do, I in particular sees no problem once they do the Lord's work.
